Music Tuition FAQ | Online Lessons with Georgina

Welcome!

This page is here to help new students and their parents or guardians with common questions about music lessons. The information below is a general guide — for specific questions, please contact Georgina directly.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. What ages do you teach?
Georgina teaches students from around 12 years old and up. If you’re unsure whether lessons are suitable, feel free to get in touch.

2. Can students take music exams?
Yes! Students can work towards music exams with Georgina’s guidance. Exam entry is only with her approval, to make sure each student is well prepared. You can view past student exam results here.

3. What kind of lessons are available?
Here’s a general guide:

  • Intermediate Levels (ages 12+)  Grade 2/3 – A 30-minute one-to-one lesson is a great place to start.

  • Advanced or older students (ages 12–16) Grade 3/4 – A 40-minute one-to-one lesson is often more suitable.

  • Adult beginners – Also start with a 40-minute lesson.

  • Advanced students Grade 4 + – After a couple of terms, a 45 or 60-minute lesson may be best, especially for those preparing for exams.

4. Where can we get an instrument, and how do we know the right size?
Many local music shops offer both sales and rentals. Instruments can also be bought online, depending on budget and quality. Georgina can offer advice on what’s best during the first lesson.

5. Do I need an instrument for my first lesson?
Piano students can use Georgina’s full-sized keyboard during lessons. For other instruments, please bring your own so Georgina can assess if it’s suitable for your learning journey.

6. What if I’m unwell and can’t attend my lesson?
Unfortunately, missed lessons are not rescheduled. However, if you let Georgina know at least 24 hours in advance, your lesson can be moved online so you won’t miss out.

Please refer to your Online Lesson Info Sheet and the Online-Addendum-to-Private-Teaching-Agreement  for more details.
