1. What ages do you teach students?
Georgina offers tuition to predominantly adults at all stages of learning. Child students aged 12-18 years may be considered but must able to work alone and at a distance from the tutor following verbal instructions and visual demonstrations. Parents can collect child learner at the start and end of lessons but remain offsite during the lesson.
2. Can students take exams?
Students can progress towards exams for their chosen instrument. Students should only apply for exams with tutor’s permission. View Georgina’s students exam results by clicking here.
3. Can parents/guardians stay and watch lessons?
Parents can collect and bring child learners to the premises only.
4. What type of lessons are offered and are suitable to my inquiry?
Agreed children beginner learners starting out 30 minute 1-1 lesson is an ideal time frame.
For students aged 12 years to 15/16years old and who have been playing previously (may have taken/worked towards exams also) a longer 1-1 lesson of 40 minutes. Adult learners starting out also are able to make use of a 40 minute lesson however more advanced learning (after 2/3 terms) an hours 1-1 lesson is likely to be required if the learner wishes to take exams.
5. Where do I find an instrument and what size do I need?
Local music shops in your area one can provide instruments to buy and also to hire. Most instruments can be purchased online depending on the age of the learner and quality of instrument required and parent’s / students budgets. This can be advised in the first lesson.
6. Can I take a lesson without an instrument?
Georgina has a non-weighted full size keyboard onsite for piano learners. Other instruments students are advised to bring their current instrument in for assessment to see if it’s suitability for the learning going ahead.
7. What if I’m ill for my lesson?
If a student displays any symptoms within the class of Covid – 19 the lesson will stop and the parent / adult accompanying them will be contacted by the tutor. Lesson time will be lost and not rescheduled, please ensure you fill in the questionnaire above accurately 24 hours before the class time to save lesson time.
All lessons can be scheduled online at the same lesson time so learning is not lost – if symptoms occur after the questionnaire is sent please text the tutor to assist a move to an online lesson.
Please see your online lesson link information sheet as part of the Online-Addendum-to-Private-Teaching-Agreement to cover this eventuality.
